Introduction As of recently, the topic of whether college athletes should get paid or not has been heavily discussed. On one hand, those in favor of paying the players argue, the money will help support them financially, as well as encourage them to keep playing. Then on the other hand, those who oppose paying college athletes state, they will be financially irresponsible and that they’re given enough through scholarship. Both parties produce strong arguments leading to a very heated, controversial topic. Many of the college athletes come from urban, low-class that have little to no support. Getting paid would allow college athletes to send money back home to help provide for their families (Lemmons, 2017). Do college players produce as much money as the pros, considering how many fans buy apparel and tickets to watch? How much would the players make?

Whether or not college athletes should get paid This has been a very controversial topic as of recently. Based on what I have heard around, it seems to be a pretty even split between whether or not college athletes should be paid. Thus, I believe this topic is suitable for this writing assignment. Two research questions: Are college athletics, while balancing schoolwork, equivalent to a full time job? Should college athletes get paid? I will send out a survey into my fraternities group chat with the questions. Gather all responses, add them up, and split them accordingly. Then, I will analyze the data thoroughly, as well as provide my opinion on the topic.
