Speech #2 Outline

Problem: Pollutants from plastic and trash are contaminating the water and sea/ocean life are ingesting them. This affects everyone that eats seafood in the United States. If the seafood that you eat, ingested any pollutant from the plastic and trash thrown in the ocean, then you are ingesting them too. Solution: First and foremost, to use reusable plastic. This prevents having to throw away any bottles or other trash that could end up in the ocean. Next, limit the use of plastic in daily life. Instead of using a water bottle every time you want a drink, use a reusable cup at home and use a water bottle when you workout or go out. Also, using reusable packing for food can reduce the amount of trash in the ocean. Justification: If everyone in the United States were to follow these solutions, there could actually be a resolution to this issue. Until then, the trash and plastic will build up to be too much and destroy an entire ecosystem.

Speech 2 Topic Proposal

For speech #2 my topic is going to be on the the use of plastic. It used to be that people just threw their garbage on the ground and not worried about it. Until plastic made it's way to the oceans where it cannot biodegrade.  Animals, most prominently turtles, have been strangled by the plastic tossed into the polluted oceans and has become a rising issue. My main focus is to address the problem of spilling plastic and other trash that doesn't biodegrade into the ocean that has been killing numerous animals. Then, I will state a possible solution to the issue as well as how to take action towards the issue. This situation effects most people because pollutants come of the plastic into the water, which fish consume, then we consume. Also, many animals are dying out from being choked by plastic or ingesting the pollutants. If this issue isn't put to a halt, it will grow until the ecosystem is ruined. https://lifelabs.psychologies.co.uk/users/79824-haulwen-nicholas/post...

Speech 2

Speech 2 is more of an argumentative/persuasive speech. We need to address an issue and create a solution to the problem. In doing so, the topic must be stated, then the solution must be stated, and lastly an explanation on why the solution is effective. A couple of questions I had about the speech are: Is this a persuasive speech?   Does the topic need to be specific?

Intro and Methods

Introduction             As of recently, the topic of whether college athletes should get paid or not has been heavily discussed. On one hand, those in favor of paying the players argue, the money will help support them financially, as well as encourage them to keep playing. Then on the other hand, those who oppose paying college athletes state, they will be financially irresponsible and that they’re given enough through scholarship. Both parties produce strong arguments leading to a very heated, controversial topic. Many of the college athletes come from urban, low-class that have little to no support. Getting paid would allow college athletes to send money back home to help provide for their families (Lemmons, 2017).   Shabazz Napier stated in 2014, “we do have hungry nights that we don’t have enough money to get food in. Sometimes money is needed.” Napier believes that it shouldn’t be stretched out to hundreds of thous...
